Managing things like home lighting and security systems from your smart device isn’t exactly a new idea anymore, but rather is becoming the norm for most electrical equipment. Home heating and air conditioning is no exception. Start-up company Nest was the first to market a smart thermostat successfully. The technology has since spread to the rest of the market. Each thermostat company may have its own unique app, but the gist is to provide control of your thermostat from your mobile device. You gain the advantage of adjusting temperatures while you’re away from home, either to prepare the house for your arrival, or to save energy as your schedule changes.
