Creating your dream master closet is a big task, but can leave you with a beautiful space that stores everything you want! Closet design expert Erin Moore of California Closets offers these design tips:
- Go through all your current closet items and take the opportunity to purge. Cutting out the extra and unnecessary will leave you with more room to design!
- Decide what you want housed in your master closet—what you have to store determines much of the design. Some items may be best kept elsewhere. You want to avoid making your master closet a cluttered, catch-all space. Make your goal a closet where you are able to find what you need in a pinch.
- Determine whether the aesthetic look or the functionality of your closet is your priority. Though you never have to completely scrap one for the other, chances are how you want your closet to look might not coincide with the most functional closet design you can come up with. If you want to emphasize the aesthetic for example, you may have to sacrifice not putting everything in your master closet that you originally planned.
- Consider budget along with how long you plan to stay in your home. This will help you visualize what changes and custom additions you are willing to make in the long run.
